KinKi Kids' 2010-2011 Concert: ~君も堂本Family~ (Kimi mo Domoto Family) - PART 1

Yeah! I have just returned from my annual pilgrimage to Tokyo for KinKi Kids' concert! Actually, this is only the second time I have been to KinKi Kids' concert but I definitely hope for many many many more to come!!!

I attended their concert at Tokyo Dome for all 3 days - 30 & 31 Dec 2010 and 1 Jan 2011. There are just so many special moments that I want to record down. In fact, though I just touched down this afternoon, my memories are already getting all muddled and I thought I'd better start writing all these down before I forget.

So for this Part 1, I will set out the design, technical and logistics aspects of the concert! Hahahahaha! Afterall, one half of KinKi Kids is a musical stage director and producer, F1 fan who knows all about chassis, etc and the theory of relativity, etc etc etc. So, we must give due acknowledgement to these important aspects of a concert! Fufufufu! I'm sure the two of them put a lot of thought into conceptualising these technical and aesthetic matters, especially Koichi.

Concert Tickets
First of all, for overseas fans like me who can't join KinK Kids' fanclub because we don't have a Japanese residential address, Johnny's Entertainment opened up for the first time an online application for 30 and 31 Dec con tickets for overseas fans. Each person is allowed to apply for only 1 night and max of 2 tickets. I applied for 30 Dec whilst my friend R applied for 31 Dec. We succeeded on the 30 Dec application. So that means 1 night down and 2 more nights to go. The tickets for the other 2 nights were subsequently purchased though Yahoo Japan Auction using the English proxy engine -Shopping Mall Japan and you pay a commission for the successful bid. We got the tickets for bid price of 10,000 yen each which is quite reasonable as the original price is 7,500 yen and these tickets we got were for the 1st level stand. When we reached Tokyo and went to the shop in Harajuku that sells concert tickets, there were also available tickets at the 1st level stand at reasonable prices. You can see from the Tokyo Dome map below where my seats were. I watched the concert from 3 different angles! Sankaku!!! :P

KinKi Kids had this special event where the fans were asked to send in photos that go with the Family theme and a motif would be made out of these photos. The concert logo in front of Tokyo Dome was the heart motif made up of all these photos sent in by the fans.

We saw a KK fan carrying this fan with very kawaii KK faces on it and asked her to let us take a photo of it! Anyway, I've "borrowed" the fan to cover my face, so that you all can see the Tokyo Dome banner behind me as well as the kawaii fan! Heeheehee!

And for the Johnny's Countdown 2011, the concert name is "Johnny's Family"! How convenient! Last year, they used KK's "J" Con for "Johnny's" and this year, they use KK's "Family" theme! Hahaha! Anyway, this year, there is only 1 blue scarf (¥1,200) for all groups; I guess that's because they are all in the Johnny's Family.

Heart-Shaped Arena
When I walked into Tokyo Dome, to my surprise, the arena seats have been shaped into a heart shape, with the heart outline being formed by walkway stage that looks like those that the fashion shows have. This means that KinKi Kids would have easily sacrificed a few thousand seats in order to create that unique heart shape for the arena.

Stage Design

This time round, the stage was really really impressive! I though J Con's moving stage was already superb and it's unlikely they can surpass it this time, but KK proved me wrong!

There were 2 semi-circle tracks (red lines) in the arena and I was trying to figure out how the stage was going to move, but I just couldn't see how the stage can move from the front to the back with 2 semi-circles that don't connect. Right at the start of the concert, the answer was revealed and it was awesome. Those of you who have watched the Johnny's Countdown would have seen it when KinKi Kids sang Family ~ひとつになること. There are 2 side plank stages (pink) at the front that can swing inwards to connect the front stage to the center stage, and likewise at the back (pink). And the answer is out, the front stage, the center stage (blue) and the back stage (green) are all connected!

So imagine when the lights went dark, everybody started screaming, and the spotlights came on and Tsuyoshi was standing at the edge of the LHS plank stage and Koichi at the other edge of the RHS plank stage, and all 4 plank stages lit in yellow lights started swinging inwards! It was really like those Star Wars sci-fic type of futuristic feel! The 2 of them walked from the front to the back stage and they sang Family, starting acapella with these 2 lines below. It was a beautiful moment! I managed to find a photo below taken by since1997★ of this scene.

Apart from these 4 swinging plank stages, the front stage had this very interesting slide design. Yes, it was a slide! And during the concert, the dancers like MA and MAD were sliding down the slide stage as part of their dance choreography! On 1 Jan con, Koichi ran halfway up to slide down and then he exclaimed that his pants became very hot! Our Koichi playing baka as usual! Fufufu!

The amazing thing about this slide design was that it created a 3D effect, like the omni-max theatre. There are 3 separate stage panels that can move up and down the slide stage. During the concert, when Kinki Kids were singing, the whole backdrop was the universe and the stage panel they were standing on was near the stop of the slide stage. It really felt like they were standing in the middle of a universe and singing their hearts out to us!

Ribbons
For the last few concerts, Johnny's has been exploding these gold/silver ribbons with the group name and concert name printed on it, and they were usually exploded above the arena. I was fortunate enough to have an arena seat for J con last year and got a silver ribbon. This year, even the 1st level stand had a chance at these ribbons. They had about 4-5 big ballons positioned around the 1st level stand and when the ballons burst, golden ribbons came flying down. What was so unusual about these ribbons was that they were tied in such a way that they twirling in the air and you can't tell where they will land. They were like golden bees flying around! As for the finale, silver ribbons were expoded above the arena and the 1st level stand. On 1/1 concert night, I could see both the golden and silver ribbons floating down above me but I didn't get any unfortunately. The nearest I ever got to a ribbon fell to a fan sitting the row behind me, 2 seats away who got a golden ribbon twirling into her hand!

White "Feather" Snow
When KinKi Kids were singing SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! at the front stage, tiny white feathers fell down on them to simulate snow. I was sitting nearer the back stage on 31/12. Can you imagine, the feathers actually floated all the way from the front to the audience behind the back stage and both R and I each got a feather! It's just a tiny feather to others but KK fans would understand its special meaning. Unfortunately, as usual, klutzy as I am, I realised I lost my feather just now when I was searching for it to take a photo of! Sob sob!

Concert DVD?
On the 1 Jan concert, there was an aerial camera filming the concert! And many camera-men were also following after Koichi and Tsuyoshi! So let's pray very hard that we are getting the concert DVD!

Part 2 should be on 1 Jan Birthday Con. Hope to finish that by tomorrow night.

Of course we fans all know that this name is derived from his solo name:

ENDLICHERI☆ENDLICHERI.

Cheri E is probably coined by Tsuyoshi based on the French word "cherie" (pronounced sha-REE) which means "darling" or "dear one". It's really so him to think of such a sweet name for the concert! The fans are his dear ones and he's our darling!

[2010.07.21] Happy 13th Anniversary for KinKi Kids' Album Debut

Today is the 13th anniversary of KinKi Kids' album debut! おめでとう Omedeto!

No time to prepare anything special, so I've decided to just collate some of the blog headers I have done up over the last 2 years! I think there's more but I don't know which folder I've saved them into......My KinKi Kids' archive is already using nearly 70% of my 1 TG portable hark disk!

Even though the quality of the MLs may be a bit blur, but even then, Koichi is so amazing and so カﾂコイ (cool)! Everytime I watch Endless Shock, I find myself falling once again in love with him. I remember the first time I saw Koichi, it was on a Taiwanese entertainment news variety show, and they showed Koichi in the Romeo blue costume, as well as scenes of him flying through the sky. The first thought that came into my mind was that he really looked like a very beautiful fairy prince! Beautiful and yet so manly! At 31 years old, he is still beautiful and more man! Koichi, ganbatte!

Endless Shock 10th Anniversary and 100 Shows! 2nd Leg Begins!

The 2nd leg of Koichi's 10th Anniversary 100 Shows Endless Shock begins on 4 July 2010, and the last show will be on 31 July 2010. Heard fans saying there were changes to the Endless Shock official website and went in to see, but Koichi's photo still the same; only change is the background......

Anyway, this time round, the 2nd male lead has been changed from Yara to Hiroki Uchi. I know there has been some negative feedback amongst fans. But whatever it may be, the decision is made and he is in. So hopefully, this new actor will be able to perform well and add a new element to the performance. Again, I pray that Koichi will have a good performance and not suffer any injuries.

Well, never mind, I am reserving my Japan trip for KK concert end of this year (they better come out with their K Album and K concert!). Hahahaha! I once read on a KKF's blog that whenever Shock is on, Tsuyoshi's Love Fighter becomes also more frequent! During Shock performance period, it is very likely that the two of them don't see each other much, so is this their "secret" way of love letter?! Fufufufu! This first Love Fighter message comes 2 days before the opening performance of Endless Shock on 4 Jul. Has Tsuyoshi already started missing Koichi? Well, the last sentence of this LF message in Japanese does not have a subject; hence, it can also be translated to simply be "I love you"! Heehee! So it can be a message to all the fans, and also at the same time, Tsuyoshi's "secret" love message for Koichi. As I read this short but very sweet LF message, the song "Somewhere Out There" immediately pops into my head, and this image pops into my head - in the first scene, we have Tsuyoshi looking up into the sky, and the next scene, Koichi at the Imperial Theatre also looking up into the sky! Lyrics go something like this:

Finally, something is moving on the KinKi Kids' scene! Tsuyoshi is releasing his Yakushiji Live DVD on 30 June 2010. It's been sooooooooooo long since there's been any new release from KinKi Kids, Tsuyoshi or Koichi! Last year, I was still complaining that there's too much solo and so little KinKi Kids; this year, I'm just grateful that there's a music release in any form so long as it involves either of them! Orz...... See how well trained we KKF have become.

Below is a summary table showing the differences between Limited and Regular Editions. I can never understand why it always seems so complicated to differentiate between the two editions... Anyway, I was still hesitating whether to order Limited or Regular edition (cuz I will usually buy one under the Jap version and the other one under the HK/TW version with Chinese subtitles) but before I know it, the Limited edition is already sold out on YesAsia! Arghhhhhh! So I quickly placed my order with CD Japan, which is more expensive by nearly S$20!!! Orz....

Today, I went out with 2 friends (who are both KinKi Kids' fans) to celebrate Tsuyoshi's 31st birthday, as well as one of my friend's belated birthday for her last teenage year! This is the 2nd time we are celebrating Tsuyoshi's birthday together, but I forgot to get a birthday cake last year. Orz.... So this year, I wouldn't dare to forget again. And below is the Sankaku birthday cake! Cute, right?! Fufufu! Happy Birthday to Tsuyoshi and [you know who you are]! Thank you once again to both my friends for helping me sort out my KinKi Kids' photos! I really enjoyed myself today and hope to celebrate more birthdays of Koichi and Tsuyoshi with both of you!

This is a really kawaii fan vid of KinKi Kids! The drawing style is a bit like the cartoon "Ponyo on the cliff by the sea".

The lyrics have 4 stanzas, the 1st stanza is about Tsuyoshi, the 2nd stanza about Koichi, the 3rd stanza about KinKi Kids and the 4th stanza is about us - KKF! You must not miss the ending scene in this episode. Both Tsuyoshi and the little boy are so cute!
[July 2010: Just found out that the little boy is actually a little girl!]

I'm not exactly sure what Tsuyoshi did (picture quality is not clear) that made the little boy convulse into laughter, but the kid sure was laughing so hard until he started coughing! Lol! I suspect it might actually be just something very simple, maybe Tsuyoshi was making some facial expression as the sliding doors closed on him and left him outside. I find that little things can tickle little kids...the joy of innocence.

In the next scene, Tsuyoshi carried the little boy facing him and the next thing you know, the little boy suddenly leaned forward and kissed Tsuyoshi right smack on his lips! Tsuyoshi was totally caught offguard and was stunned for a while, as the people around burst out into laughter. And then Tsuyoshi also couldn't help but break out into his angelic smile! Kawaii!

Well, you sure got to give credit to this little boy. He sure knows how to recognize a good thing and to act fast! Koichi, are you watching??? Please take some lessons from the little boy! Fufufufu!

Tsuyoshi is sooooo kawaii!!! Okie, I admit, this is the look of Tsuyoshi that I am most gaga over! He looks so innocent and baby-ish; definitely a guy look but yet with such a soft aura surrounding him. And I don't mean that type of gayish effeminate demeanour! Tsuyoshi is definitely not like that! He is a guy through and through but with such a gentle soul and innocent eyes; an angel bestowed to walk with us for this lifetime.

Woah! Tsuyoshi is actually No. 10 on the ranking list! I am amazed! I thought Koichi would be the one on this list and not Tsuyoshi. I love Tsuyoshi but I wouldn't want to choose him as my lover. Well, of course KKL is the primary reason, but whilst his sensitive and emotional nature probably contributes to his artistic talents and creativity which I admire a lot, such nature would also mean that you would have to be attentive to his moods and take care of him. As Tsuyoshi himself admitted, he's a 面倒さい (mendosai) person (i.e. troublesome). My nurturing instincts are nearly non-existent! Hahahaha!

By the way, does the absence of Koichi in the ranking list suggest that the two of them of successfully convinced the Japanese ladies that Koichi is really an ojisan and not an ideal lover?!?! Wonder if Koichi's green-eyed monster will again be on the loose on seeing this news?! Fufufufu!

KinKi Kids' Concert Tour J: 091231 and 100101 Tokyo Dome (Part 2)

I think I will start first with Tsuyoshi's birthday love song for Koichi on 1 Jan concert! Fufufu! Well, it's obviously the most important and romantic moment in J con!

At the start of the 1st MC, when Koichi started introducing himself, Tsuyoshi suddenly ran to the back of the stage. As that section of the stage was in darkness, we couldn't see Tsuyoshi at all and Koichi pretended to look bewildered, looking left and right for Tsuyoshi, saying, "Is this my solo?".

At that very moment, we hear the strains of music and the spotlight shined on Tsuyoshi who was playing on the keyboard. (Wahhhh! I didn't expect Tsuyoshi to start on his love song so quickly! Fufufu!)

Koichi then commented, "I think this is going to take very long." (Lol! He definitely knows best since he's a very experienced "victim"!) And then, he said, "I want to sit down" and he then sat down on the steps leading up to the musicians' decks.

Tsuyoshi launched into his love song for Koichi's 31st birthday.

Koichi apparently was already "corrected" during the concert on the first night by the Johnny's Juniors not to touch the bottom of his mic to prevent creating the feedback noise, but he still created it a few times on the first night!)

That's why the fans keep laughing even though Tsuyoshi's lyrics were so touching. Our baka Prince strikes again...)

The "silver pants" is absolutely hilarious, referring to the silver pants Koichi was wearing then. I have to sheepishly confess I heard "silver butts" during the concert...Orz...don't ask me why.)

Don't read this hidden paragraph below if you don't want to spoil your romantic impression of the love song, or you are anti-KKL or you are a passionate KKL. It's in black-coloured font and you can read it by blocking it.

Koichi actually maintained an expressionless face most of the time during the singing, only breaking out into a grin a few rare times when tickled by Tsuyoshi's lyrics. Otherwise, he was very controlled and emotionless, especially at the beginning where he looked upset with Tsuyoshi for singing the love song. Koichi's cold attitude was in such contrast to the love expressed in the song that Tsuyoshi was singing to him. I found it hard to immerse myself fully in the love song with Koichi looking so cold and indifferent. It's not like Phi con where Koichi was raised on an elevated platform and pretended frustration at his predicament. Here, there's not much interaction between Koichi and Tsuyoshi as Tsuyoshi sang. Koichi was just not looking at Tsuyoshi, and was either pretending that he was sleeping or massaging his legs.

I don't believe Koichi doesn't appreciate Tsuyoshi's love song. It's just so touching. I also don't believe that the love song is just a gimmick. I believe Tsuyoshi meant every word he sang. My guess is that Koichi had to pretend indifference in order to protect their love. They must have had some sort of caution from the JE agency or Johnny-san who came to their concert on their 1st night and called up Koichi the next day on 31 Dec. Afterall, they did play overboard during their performance of Swan Song on Music Station Special Live on Christmas. Fans who wish for them to come open with their relationship may have under-estimated the conservatism of the Japanese society. Whilst it might be acceptable for them to fool around in such a way that suggests they are a homosexual couple, I don't think the Japanese society will be able to accept and condone them if it is openly admitted. The day their relationship is out in the open might be the day that signals the end of their career.

Whilst it would have been a memorable experience to witness their kissing live, in a way, I am glad that there's no kiss at the 1 Jan concert this time. We heard fans saying things like too bad there's no kissing this year but I don't think that's right. Their kiss shouldn't become a routine; an expected part of the concert; a mere performance. That's not the reason why we love to see them kiss. I don't know about others but I fell in love with them because I believe they are truly in love with each other. To me, their kiss would have been a symbol of their love. However, I would rather give up the chance to see them kiss onstage if it means that their love or their kiss would be tainted by crass expectations from certain fans.

At the end of it all, I have to admit that it was not totally as wonderful an experience as I had hoped the concert would be. However, I walk away still with the same belief that they are in love with each other. Why? Cuz there's no reason for Koichi to behave so indifferently and coldly in response to Tsuyoshi's love song if they are just partners. Koichi is not such a cold-hearted or emotionless person. The only reason can only be that they need to cast doubt again in people's mind as to whether they are or are not a couple, so as to protect their secret; so that they can carry on as KinKi Kids and with the careers they love. Reality is never easy, love is never easy, especially love between 2 guys who are also artistes and partners. J con was not exactly the wonderful experience I was hoping for, as I was hoping to see KinKi Kids' beautiful 白い世界 (utopian world), but got instead a glimpse into their reality world.

Tsuyoshi, Koichi, I can only pray that despite all the difficulties in this world, the two of you would continue to hold on firmly to each other, to support each other, to love each other, to never give up on each other. Ironically, despite my religious beliefs, my belief in true love springs forth from these 2 guys.

KinKi Kids' Concert Tour J: 091231 and 100101 Tokyo Dome (Part 1)

I haven't said anything in my blog previously but I can definitely say it now. I have attended my very first KinKi Kids' concert!!! YEAHHHHH!!! I still cannot believe it but I had finally stepped into Tokyo Dome and spent the last day of 2009 and the first day of 2010 with KinKi Kids at their J concert tour! I don't think any words can express that very moment where I finally saw Tsuyoshi and Koichi face to face. I am just so touched and blessed by the whole experience and can only thank God for it all.

Right from the start, everything was touch and go, and hence I dare not say anything for fear of jinxing my chances. My KinKi Kids' fanclub membership card only arrived 2 days before the deadline for submission of application form for the concert tickets. Whew! It wasn't until 9 Dec that I received news from my proxy that I have successfully been ballotted the concert tickets for 31 Dec and 1 Jan. I was elated but that was also the start of a 1-2 week period of suspense and worry about whether I will be able to get hold of my concert tickets, airplane tickets, hotel, etc. I finally received confirmation from my proxy just 2 days before my departure that the concert tickets had been mailed to my Tokyo hotel. Thankfully, all things went well and the concert tickets and fanclub membership card landed safely in our hands when we arrived at the hotel.

These are my concert tickets. When I saw the word "arena" on my 31 Dec ticket, I was so happy that I couldn't stop grinning. I couldn't help wishing that the arena seats were for the 1 Jan concert but I quickly told myself I shouldn't be greedy. I was already so blessed to get the concert tickets for these 2 nights.

So on 31 Dec, we went to Tokyo Dome in the morning to purchase the concert goods first. We nearly landed up in the wrong queue as there were 2 queues for concert goods, one for Johnny's Countdown and one for KinKi Kids' J Concert Tour. The signages simply said concert goods and the queue right before our exit from our Metropolitan subway station was actually for the Johnny's Countdown. Fortunately, the queue was long and by the time we managed to reach the end of the queue, we were halfway round the Tokyo Dome. Then, we saw the other queue and realised that that was the one for KinKi Kids' concert goods! Thankfully, we didn't queue wrongly.

We joined the KinKi Kids' concert goods queue at about 11.30 am. The queue was very long but as usual, the Japanese are very efficient and we reached the booths after about 45 minutes. As I was helping some friends back home buy the concert goods as well, it came to quite a lot and people around me must have thought I was one of those proxy merchants......Thankfully, my friend was there to help me but I felt paiseh that she had to wait for me as I had to join many separate queues to buy all the items and quantities. Without her, I couldn't have managed to carry so many things back to hotel. If you are reading this blog, thank you for being so patient and kind throughout this trip.

We managed to also get the KinKi Kids' fan for Johnny's Countdown 2009-10 as the KinKi Kids' concert goods booths also sold that. I think KinKi Kids' fan looks the best but of course, I am biased! :P

After dropping off the concert goods at the hotel, we came back to Tokyo Dome. At about 5pm, we queued to go into the arena. When we stepped into the arena and saw where we were seated, my friend and I were so elated that we couldn't help doing little shrieks. We were seated right in the center column of the arena in the 3rd block from the front stage!!! Ahhhhhhhh! We were only about 50 metres from the front stage! If you look at the seating plan below, the pink spot is where our seats were on 31 Dec.

As for the 1 Jan seats, we thought we would be right at the top level, left hand corner of the dome since the seat description seems to mean 3rd level side. However, we guessed wrongly. We actually had very good seats at the first level stand slightly off to the left side. The red spot on the seat plan above would be where our seats were. We had a good view of the mini-stage in front of the stand as well as the whole front stage and arena area! My friend said on the 1 Jan night that we can now see the whole stage effect as well as the performances off the front stage which we couldn't see very well from the arena. She was right!

I don't know how people managed to take photos during the concert as there were so many "security personnel" around. There were also signs stating that we would be removed from the dome if we take photos. I managed to "smuggle" my camera in but I didn't dare to take it out at all. Sob sob!

The front stage is actually a moving stage and Tsuyoshi and Koichi actually passed about 2 metres above our arena seats on 31 Dec when the stage moved to the mini-stage at the back! When the stage was moving towards us, I was so worried that we will not get to see their faces as they were both at the left and right sides of the stage. When the edge of the stage moved to about 2-3 rows before me, Tsuyoshi suddenly walked over to our end, looked down, gave a gentle and sweet smile and wiggled his fingers in his customary downward wave! He looked just like he is on screen, innocent, sweet and gentle. That was the best moment for me! Tsuyoshi was probably 3-4 metres from me! It would have been even more wonderful if Koichi had also come over but I must not be greedy.

I took the screen caps below from Johnny's Countdown. The red dot would be where we were seated. That's probably the closest I will ever get to Tsuyoshi. I will always treasure this memory.

At the end of the 31 Dec concert, when all the golden ribbons fell down on the arena, it was really a marvelous sight standing right underneath the waterfall of golden ribbons. Below is picture of the golden ribbon that I got.

This is the photo of the J logo taken at about 3 pm before we entered the arena. You will notice that the plague on the right states "KinKi Kids concert tour".

This was taken after the 31 Dec concert. The plague had been removed and changed to "Countdown"! The "J" was really useful! Lol! But this meant I had to try and take the night photo of the J again tomorrow if I wanted the KinKi Kids' plague. Orz...

This CM is also very funny! BGM is Secret Code. "Music box J" with KinKi Kids on it (like those ballerinas we see on music box??? Fufufufu!) suddenly stops sideways. Tsuyoshi had to scramble forward to face the camera and Koichi looks so "innocently aggreived" and pouted his mouth as he had to twist his head to face the camera behind him! OMG! I am totally 萌 (meng) by his pouting look. If you don't believe me, see for yourself!

As for Tsuyoshi, he's still trapped in his Mafia image! But take note that his face is right beside somebody's backside! Fufufufu!

[091206] J Album Secret Live Event: J for "Junction"!!!

KinKi Kids held their secret live event for J Album in a tunnel 37 metres below ground on 6 Dec! This tunnel is still under construction and is known as Route 246. KinKi Kids had their stage built at the junction connecting the Metropolitan Expressway Central Circular Line and Shibuya Line. I think this junction is known as the Junction Bridge or JCT Bridge. So, J is for "Junction" this round! Apparently, JE staff has been negotiating since Oct with the relevant authorities to allow them to stage the live event in the tunnel! Well, credit to them this time for thinking of such a novel venue and newsworthy promotion event.

So that's the answer to the mysterious request for fans to wear sneakers and why only 246 lucky fans were balloted for the event. Buses were used to ferry the fans to the venue and the fans also didn't know where they were being taken! Masks were given to the fans as the place was still quite dusty since construction will only be completed around next March.

[20020303 & 10] Japan Walker: KinKi Kids' 10th Anniversary Onsen Trip

I'm sure nearly all KK fans would know about KinKi Kids' surprise onsen trip in 2002 to commemorate their 10th anniversary! This was broadcasted on Koichi's variety show, Japan Walker, over 2 episodes.

Throughout the show, it was mentioned that Tsuyoshi had something to say to Koichi, but right up to the end of the show, he never said it. In fact, many fans felt that Koichi was very tensed up during this filming as he might have been afraid that what Tsuyoshi wanted to say was that he wanted to disband KinKi Kids. At that time, there was apparently a huge furore in Japan over whether KinKi Kids should or should not disband. Up to now, I still cannot understand how fans can actually just like one but not the other. I love both of them and I love their solo too, but just like what they say, KinKi Kids is home to them. How can fans desire the destruction of their home?!?! By the very fact that KinKi Kids are still together for 7-8 years since then, we know that they themselves will not let go. In fact, Tsuyoshi has recently stated in a magazine interview for Nov this year that "光一が「解散したい」て言わない限り僕は解散しないです。" (Unless Koichi says "I wish to disband", otherwise I will not disband.)

Anyway, I've digressed......

What exactly did Tsuyoshi want to say to Koichi during that onsen trip? We know that Tsuyoshi actually drew a picture and wrote out what he wanted to say to Koichi, but most of the video clips available now do not have that picture. I was lucky enough to download a video clip that had that picture and have taken a screen cap to post it here to share with those who have never seen it.

A rough translation of Tsuyoshi's words would be:
"When I see Koichi's face, I am unable to say it directly to him...Thank you. - Tsuyoshi"

At the end of their onsen trip, when they were eating grilled seafood in the seaside onsen, Tsuyoshi initiated a handshake pattern with Koichi. I recall reading on another KK fan's blog that it was the same pattern as that done by Koichi in the drama "Homeless Child 2". I managed to find the handshake pattern in that drama:

1st pattern: Koichi clasps the hand of the girl like a handshake and says:

I will protect you

2nd pattern: Their hands then reclasp together like in a fist pattern and the girl says:

I will protect you

3rd pattern: Their thumbs meet together and both say:

We will be together till death

When I looked at Tsuyoshi's handshake pattern with Koichi, the first 2 patterns are indeed the same - "I will protect you" but the last pattern is different. I guess only the 2 of them will ever know what the last pattern means.

Really hilarious to see both Koichi and Tsuyoshi staring at the baby J when it was put in front of them! Both looked a bit stunned and Tsuyoshi kept saying "chisai" (small). Lol!

In Version 2, after completing the filming, they discovered the big J, and started "complaining" why the staff didn't use the big J! And then in the end, Tsuyoshi didn't know what to do with the baby J in his hands and he placed it inside the big J. Baka KK as usual! Lol!

In order to make the "music box J" continue to turn, Tsuyoshi quickly sings the next line, and then followed by Koichi, but both singing in very ojisan mumbling crappy manner, but to no avail......And I think in the last scene as shown below, Koichi is pouting whilst looking upwards at the "music box J" that's not turning. Super hilarious!!!

Anyway, what's with all these red roses this year?! Reminds me of the huge bouquet of red roses that Tsuyoshi gave Koichi on his birthday at KinKi you Osaka countdown concert at the start of this year! And we all know red rose symbolise L-O-V-E!!! Fufufufu!

The way Tsuyoshi is biting the rose is a bit strange though. Is it cuz his mouth is too small for the stem or he's deliberately trying to "spoil" the image? This CM definitely falls along the line of their sense of humour (i.e. baka-ness). The beautiful image juxtaposed with the goofy mumbling voice-overs...... Orz.....

Tsuyoshi is so cute at the end where he starting laughing and lost his "bite" on the rose which fell out of his mouth. The two of them obviously know that this CM is very silly! Where got idols who go around all the time spoiling their own image?!?! Lol!

Koichi coloured his hair chestnut brown! I actually like Koichi with black hair but brown is also nice. Good-looking people will generally look good in nearly everything...... Nothing really exciting in this round of appearance. The change of hair colour seems to be the most exciting highlight......

I just realised something a little shocking......Both of them don't seem to like the camera! When the camera zooms in on them, they know and you can see Koichi's eyes shifting away while Tsuyoshi just directly turns his head away......

KinKi Kids' Fanclub video! Baka Koichi.......

KinKi Kids' fanclub video this time round seems to strike a sense of deja vu with last year's fanclub video. Koichi is again the baka comic role whilst Tsuyoshi is the bored straight man role. I have to say Koichi is real cute in this video, like a little kitty full of curiousity and energy. Fufufufu! I think Tsuyoshi probably was having a hard time trying to keep a straight face!

At the start, Koichi was doing all the talking whilst Tsuyoshi was nearly expressionless. When it's Tsuyoshi's turn to talk, something above Koichi seemed to have caught his attention and he kept looking up.

The very next moment, Koichi suddenly leaped into the air!

And grabbed down the mic! Other than this side glance, Tsuyoshi never gave him any reaction! Hahahahaha!

Well, did Koichi give up? No way! Our prince is not one that gives up so easily, especially if he is trying to get the attention of his princess! He adds on more baka power!!! Lalalalala ~ ~ ~

Obviously, our princess today is in no mood to entertain the baka prince. But our baka prince has been well-trained...oops...should be well acclimatised to our princess' temperamental...oops...should be sensitive nature, and was able to amuse himself with his new toy...oops...I mean the mic.

(I swear I do love the 2 of them!)

Our princess deigns to give the prince's new toy a look but obviously, a mic is a mic is a mic.......

The prince finally "releases" the mic......

And our princess ends off with the very same "trick" done in last year's fanclub video, by echoing the last syllables of Koichi's sentence. In this case, it was "deshita"! And the victory goes to Tsuyoshi, cuz Koichi ended up trying not to grin! Somehow, I got the feeling that the 2 of them were having a bet as to who can make the other person laugh first! 2 bakas.......but very kawaii ones!

Koichi's Best Performance & Music: Johnny's Stage Report Live Concert & Interview Video Clips

This is Koichi in his infamous silver "spacesuit" performing the song "Falling 2009". I have to say though the costume looks a bit funny on photos but the overall effect is quite stunning, with the dance moves and superb lighting effects!

My friend went to Koichi's concert and she said that the dancing was coordinated with the "light balls" such that it looks like Koichi and the dancers were controlling the light balls. We can see this in this video clip and I have to agree that it's really fabulous!

You can see from the screen cap below that Koichi is "controlling" the red ball.

My friend was telling me that the whole place looks like a universe of stars with all the lighting effects and the blue penlights. The screen cap below gives us a glimpse of this but it's just too small and not clear enough. I am wishing for the DVD and it'll be great if Koichi is the one editing it!!!

Finally, I just couldn't resist pasting this screen cap of a smiling Koichi! He's actually very animated in his expressions, very child-like.

I have to say that I got quite frustrated by TBS. Why?! Cuz I can't hear Tsuyoshi's singing at all!!! I mean, you can hear it in the background but with all the narration and the muted volume of the theme song, how does one expect to really be able to listen to Tsuyoshi's singing? What's the point of asking Tsuyoshi to sing if they don't intend to let the audience listen properly to it? Might as well just play the music without any singing or just play the original song.

Oricon Chart: KinKi Kids' 29th Single 『スワンソング』 (Swan Song) is No. 1 on 1st day of release!

KinKi Kids' 29th single 『スワンソング』 (Swan Song) took the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Chart Singles Daily Ranking Chart on their 1st day of release (28 Oct 2009) with sales of 72291.

I was at first quite pleasantly surprised when I compared to the 1st day's sales figure of Yakusoku which was at 42094, especially considering the Oricon's expectation points are lower this round. Well, I found the answer for this mystery on another fan's blog (ZAN). It seems that Oricon has recently changed its point/rating measure, which means that we are not comparing apple to apple...... Zan has done the adjustments to the Yakusoku's sales figures and it turns out to be 76747 for the 1st day.

Anyway, no matter what, KinKi Kids have achieved a good sales volume again with their 29th single and should be on their way to further increase their Guiness record. Please do buy the single if you have not bought it yet. The songs in this single are really excellent!

KinKi Kids appeared on Hey! Hey! Hey! together with the comedian duo Fujiwara. I know a numerous fans have already mentioned this on their blogs but I have to say that I did notice the same thing myself before I read the fans' blogs! Heeheehee! Pink pink love love!

Scene 1: One of the guys from Fujiwara said that when they went on Tsuyoshi's show Shoujiki Shindoi, he asked Tsuyoshi for his handphone number as he would like to become good friends with Tsuyoshi and he got it. Well, Koichi's face did not look too great to me.

Scene 2: After the other guy from Fujiwara got Koichi to perform a baka dance rendition of Garasu no shonen, that guy hugged Koichi very tightly and you should see Koichi's contorted face as he tried to push himself as far away as possible.

Contra this with Koichi's reaction to Tsuyoshi's 5 kisses at Phi Con. Well, you get my picture. And guess what is Koichi's aikata's expression? Tsuyoshi was smiling but it's not those hahaha, so funny laugh type of smile. I don't know how to describe it but wouldn't you think that 2 guy friends, no matter how close, will just laugh out loud at the pathetic plight of the other person who is in Koichi's position? But Tsuyoshi's reaction is not like that and that in itself is catalyst for us KKL fans to go PINK PINK !

Anyway, don't you think Tsuyoshi looks super kawaii during that "mysterious" smile scene?!

And don't miss the baka dance performance as Koichi is superbly hilarious in it! It is indeed very rare to see Koichi being asked to clown around on variety shows nowadays!

TBS will be broadcasting on 3 Nov 2009 a special feature called 『JNN50周年記念歴史大河スペクタクル唐招提寺1200年の謎～天平を駆けぬけた男と女たち』(I think the translation is『JNN 50th Anniversary In Memory of the Spectacular Historical Saga of Toshadai Temple's 1200-year Mystery - Men & Women of Tempyou era who [raced?]』......well, I might be wrong).

Tsuyoshi will be singing the theme song 「昴-すばる-」(Subaru, which means the Pleiades constellation), the famous song of 谷村新司 (Shinji Tanimura) . The moment I heard Tsuyoshi sang the song, I went "Ah!!! I know this tune!!!" I understand that this Japanese song has actually been re-enacted by a few Chinese and Cantonese singers! Anyway, I know this tune well because it's one of my parents' fave Chinese oldies!

KinKi Kids' 29th Single 『スワンソング』 (Swan Song) is No. 1 on the Oricon Chart (Expectation) with expectation point of 170.50. This is however slightly lower than Yakusoku, so I guess the sales might be slightly lower this time.

I must say the songs are really nice in this single. The main song - Swan Song has a really catchy anime-type of melody. As for the other songs in the single, I really like the 2nd song - 『サマルェカダス～another oasis～』(I think the katagana is read as Samarueka Dance; don't ask me what it means......) as well as the 3rd song in the regular edition - 『面影』(I think it is pronouced as omo-kage and the meaning is face mask).

But all these are forgiven when towards the end, they turned to face each other as they sang! KinKi Kids will be the first JE group to appear as guests on SMAP's Bistro, which will be broadcasted on 26 Oct 2009. This is so exciting! What an honour it is! KinKi Kids used to dance, sing and act in SMAP's shows when they were young and SMAP really was very caring towards them. I don't think we get to see much of this type of senior-junior bonding in JE these days. In the promotional video clip, it's really hilarious to see SMAP teasing KinKi Kids with the bowing "competition"!!!

The PV for Swan Song is finally shown! Well, Koichi looks really gorgeous, he does justice to his prince image - Prince Koichi!!! Fufufu! At first, I thought that this PV falls into one of those JE's so-so blah-blah PV, and I was trying to console myself that at least we got both of them appearing throughout in this PV and not just swans flying around only (though I wouldn't put it past JE to do that to us......).

But I've changed my mind since I've gained "profound" insights into the definition of long-distance relationship from this PV! Plus this PV is filmed in a church and with feathers floating around them! Do I hear wedding bells? Hahahahaha! Let's watch the PV first and I will share more with you on my "profound" insights! Fufufu!

Now, we all know the song lyrics is about 2 lovers have to separate and their sorrow that the long-distance would mean the end of their relationship. Well, let's see what is KK's definition of "long" distance relationship: -

KinKi Kids proved themselves to be still very good dancers, by re-performing at 2008 KinKi you concert their very first "own" KinKi Kids' song - Tayori ni shitemasen, including the very energetic dance routine.

Everybody knows that Koichi is a very good dancer, and I fully agree with that. However, I once saw a backstage video clip of KinKi Kids when they were juniors and they were asked by SMAP to show the dance moves for Tayori ni shitemasen. I recall thinking then that Tsuyoshi was surprisingly actually dancing better and more in time than Koichi. So why is Koichi now perceived to be the better dancer? I guess it's probably that Tsuyoshi is just not that interested in dancing whilst Koichi really put in a lot of hard work to perfect his dance moves. I've read from other fans' blogs that Koichi used to spend a lot of time on his own practising his dancing when he was a junior. Anyway, I must say Tsuyoshi's dance moves in the 2008 KinKi you concert for Tayori ni shitemasen are really good, and as for Koichi, he's in a league of his own with his "baka" dance version! :P

Domoto Brothers #403 (091004): 1st Performance of 29th single "Swan Song"

KinKi Kids performed for the first time their latest 29th single "Swan Song"!

The tune is a light fast catchy type but with sad lyrics. Fluffy mentioned that it sounds like anime song type and I do agree with her. I quite like this new song but this type of songs need to be tagged to a touching storyline (like anime) or else if just by itself, it may not have much depth. The lyrics are slightly repetitive, the high notes are very high and Koichi seems to be straining, and the stanza part sounds a bit like Machi's "Andalusia"......I half expected the jacket swinging dance to anytime pop out! Well, I doubt we will see KinKi Kids dance for this song though it would be nice to see them dance after such a long time. Oops! I sound like I don't like the song......I actually do like the song but I guess I've been waiting so long for their joint composition and was hoping for a song with more depth......

Let's hope the PV is good and can be a storyline type of PV, though I wouldn't hold out much hope for it. More likely than not, JE will give us another "mysterious black and white dots floating around dunno for what" or the "ugly pencil drawings dunno for what" type of PV. Let's hope we don't get a PV with a swan floating around dunno for what.....Orz

After translating the lyrics of Swan Song, I cannot get out of my mind images of the two of them dressed up in those early days American era black longcoat (that's Koichi) and frilly frock (erhem...that's Tsuyoshi and please add a parasol with lace... :P ) at the wharf with Koichi on the shipdeck looking longingly at his beloved Tsuyoshi as Tsuyoshi runs along the wharf frantically waving farewell and trying to hold back tears! Ahhhh...so tragically romantic, don't you think? Fufufufu! I so wish I can draw it out.

Anyway, Tsuyoshi looks tired during the telecast of DB and doesn't seem to be able to immerse himself in the song. That sort of diminished the impact of the song. I read from another blog that Tsuyoshi would have had to rush back from his concert yesterday for the live telecast of Domoto Brothers and would have been physically tired out. For once, I actually liked the song more after listening to the mp3 instead of watching the video clip. Orz...my fan "skill level" has actually "transcended" to the next stage where Tsuyoshi's mood actually affects mine too!!!
